The members of Ballet Folklórico de Antioquia, Colombia have one mission - to spread the multicultural richness of Colombian culture.  In a celebration of Colombian folklore in its many manifestations, the company offers an experience of authentic music, dance, and physical theatre accentuated with brilliantly-colored and scintillating costumes.  Ballet Folklórico de Antioquia, Colombia has been enjoying a rapidly expanding international reputation, including a special guest appearance at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 - the first Colombian group to ever participate in such an event.

Founded in 1986, Doug Varone and Dancers has commanded attention for its expansive vision, versatility, and technical prowess.  Varone is renowned for his ability to create kinetically thrilling dances that range from the smallest  gestures to full-throttle bursts of movement. Doug Varone and Dancers are among the most sought after ambassadors and educators in the field, and the company has been honored with 11 New York Dance and Performance Awards. In celebration of their 25th year, the Company will be touring and reconstructing major dances from their past repertory as well as recent new works and premieres.

This project is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.  The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has announced that the Center for the Arts has received a grant in support of the Arts in Healthcare Residency Program. The $30,000 contribution marks the first time that the Center for the Arts has received a grant from the NEA. This grant will fund the residency of Doug Varone and Dancers and cellist Stephen Katz, who will perform and conduct hands-on activities with patients, staff, and families at Roswell Park Cancer Institute and Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo for two weeks in March 2012. The two hospitals are partners in the Center for the Arts' Arts in Healthcare initiative, which began in 2008. 

Also during this period, the Company will provide master classes for UB Dance students as well as give lecture/demonstrations in several area schools as part of the Center's annual professional dance residency.

One of Russia's most esteemed ballet companies, the Moscow Festival Ballet presents the timeless fairy tale, Cinderella.  The beautiful costumes, vibrant scenery, comical evil stepsisters, and Prokofiev's energetic score make Cinderella one of the most beloved ballets of all time.

The Moscow Festival Ballet was founded in 1989 by Sergei Radchenko, legendary principal dancer of the Bolshoi Ballet.  Under his direction, the company brings together the highest classical elements of the great Bolshoi and Kirov Ballet companies, and has performed to great acclaim worldwide.

Complexions Contemporary Ballet is an imaginative mash-up of classical technique with Alvin Ailey roots, and So You Think You Can Dance accessibility. Founded in 1994 by Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson, two former Alvin Ailey dancers and frequent contributors to So You Think You Can Dance, Complexions Contemporary Ballet presents a groundbreaking mix of methods, styles and cultures to create thought-provoking, entertaining and accessible work. Rhoden and Richardson’s work is multifaceted and widely renowned, ranging from appearances on E!, PBS, and VH1, to work with Cirque de Soleil and the Joffrey Ballet.
 
The members of Complexions Contemporary Ballet seek to remove the boundaries of dance, rather than reinforce them.
