The percussion legend Zakir Hussain, widely considered a chief architect of the contemporary world music movement presents Masters of Percussion, a spectacular ensemble of rhythm and melody. The concert features the traditional repertoire from North Indian and South Indian classical traditions, both melodic and rhythmic development, Zakir Hussain’s masterful tabla solo, as well as excursions exploring the frontier between traditional and contemporary, folk and classical.
Zakir's contribution to world music has been unique, with many historic collaborations including Shakti, with John McLaughlin and L. Shankar in the early 1970’s, the Diga Rhythm Band, Making Music, Planet Drum with Mickey Hart, Tabla Beat Science, Sangam with Charles Lloyd and Eric Harland and recordings and performances with artists as diverse as George Harrison, Yo Yo Ma, Joe Henderson, Van Morrison, Airto Moreira, Giovanni Hidalgo, Pharoah Sanders, Billy Cobham, Rennie Harris and the Kodo drummers of Japan. His music and extraordinary contribution to the music world were honored in April, 2009, with four sold-out concerts at Carnegie Hall’s Artist Perspective series. Zakir received a Grammy for Global Drum Project, his group with Mickey Hart, Giovanni Hidalgo and Sikiru Adepoju in 2009. The Melody of Rhythm, featuring banjo, bass and tabla by Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer and Zakir has been nominated for a 2010 Grammy award.

The program will include Dr. Tynan and his band performing some of their favorite Irish songs such as
Danny Boy and
Fields of Athenry, as well as other popular favorites such as
Into the Fire,
And I Love You So, and
Tears From Heaven. Dr. Tynan and Méav will also be performing duets including the much-loved
Last Rose of Summer together. Meav, a founder member of Celtic Woman, will be making her Carnegie Hall debut in March with Dr. Tynan.

Ronan Tynan - Overcoming adversity all of his life after being born with a lower limb disability, then later having both of his lower legs amputated as the result of a car accident, Ronan has achieved amazing feats with unbridled determination. Before becoming a world- renowned Irish Tenor, Ronan achieved many gold medals as a Para Olympian, and Champion Horse Rider. He has also helped many as an Orthopedic Doctor specializing in athletic injuries. When he is not performing for Presidents or other dignitaries Ronan has become a mainstay at Buffalo Sabres games where he has performed “God Bless America” on numerous special occasions.
Méav - Méav is a multi-million selling Irish singer and recording artist who is equally at home singing classic Irish airs and lilting fast songs. As a founder member of Celtic Woman, Méav is featured on their hugely successful DVDs and CDs. Named the #1 Top World Music Artist by Billboard Magazine, Celtic Woman has sold more than 4 million units and their TV specials have aired more than 13,000 times on US TV. The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra celebrates its latest CD release,
Portrait in Seven Shades, with a 19-city U.S. tour. The world-renowned big band will perform selections from the CD as well as tunes by Count Basie, Mary Lou Williams and others.
Portrait in Seven Shades is the band’s first recording of original music in nearly four years. The suite, composed by jazz muscian Ted Nash, is released by Jazz at Lincoln Center and is the first title under a distribution agreement with The Orchard. Nash’s suite consists of seven movements, each inspired by a master of modern art: Chagall, Dali, Matisse, Monet, Picasso, Pollack and Van Gogh.
The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis is composed of 15 of the finest jazz soloists and ensemble players and is the resident orchestra at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City. Under Music Director Wynton Marsalis, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra tours worldwide performing a vast and unique repertoire: from rare historic compositions to modern Jazz at Lincoln Center-commissioned works, including compositions and arrangements by the jazz masters and members of the band.

With their roots based in bluegrass, Celtic, and jazz music, Cherryholmes has stormed to the top of the music world since winning the 2005 IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Award for Entertainer of the Year.
Their self-titled debut album on Skaggs Family Records in 2006 received their first Grammy nomination for Best Bluegrass Album, and their second Grammy-nominated album "Black And White" came in at No. 1 on Billboard's Bluegrass Album Chart. Cherryholmes' latest album, "Don't Believe" garnered them their third and fourth Grammy nominations for Best Bluegrass Album, and crossed them over into the Best Country Instrumental Performance category for the track, "Sumatra."

Singer, songwriter, and producer Jon Secada, one of the most gifted artists of our time, is not only blessed with a soulful voice, but also with an artistry to create, write and produce music. He has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and earned three Grammy Awards for his work.
After completing a Bachelor’s degree in Music and a Master’s degree in Jazz Vocal Performance at the University of Miami, Jon was invited to join Gloria Estefan’s band as a background singer. Jon co-wrote and sang background on “Coming Out of the Dark,” Gloria’s number one hit from her 1991 album Into the Light.
His self-titled debut album Jon Secada (SBK/EMI), released in 1992, skyrocketed his career. He later scored a hit with the single “Just Another Day,” and the hits, “Angel,” “I’m Free,” and “Do You Believe in Us?” The Spanish-language version of the album, Otro Dia Mas Sin Verte (EMI-Latin), became the Number One Latin album of 1992 and earned Jon his first Grammy Award, for Best Latin Pop Album.
This landmark success was followed in 1994 by Jon’s second album, Heart Soul and Voice (EMI). The album spun off the Top Ten Pop hit “If You Go.” His third album on EMI, Amor, was released in 1995 and earned the singer his second Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Performance.
Jon’s latest pop release Same Dream was released to critical acclaim in 2005. He followed this success with his Latin-themed holiday collection, Christmas Fiesta (2007). His latest CD Expressions: The Jazz Album is a collection of new songs, classic standards and Secada hits – all with a twist and Jon’s own jazz-flavored arrangements was released last fall.
