Nicole Little is currently pursuing a dual master’s degree in architecture and urban planning at the University at Buffalo. She received her bachelor’s degree in architecture with a minor in environmental design at the University at Buffalo. Her research bridges these two fields with a focus on sustainable development, and more specifically, on responsible building and material management. She works with the Architecture Department’s “Ecological Practices” graduate research group and within the Urban Planning Department’s “Healthy Communities” specialization. Nicole has worked at the Community of Excellence in Global Health Equity at UB, a research group whose mission is to tackle the complex global health challenges of today’s world using interdisciplinary, equity-focused work, for the past four years. She previously worked as an intern for the UB Center for Urban Studies and as an Architectural Intern for NYS OGS Design and Construction. Her graphics have been featured in a wide array of the groups' publications and outreach materials. Nicole is passionate about creating inclusive, design-oriented projects which imagine new alternatives for sustainable, equitable, and healthy communities. She is equally as passionate about communicating in creative, unconventional ways within the fields of architecture and urban planning. Nicole has won a range of awards for her endeavors such as the UB Graduate Award of Distinction in Research and Creativity, the School of Architecture's Hyatt Award for outstanding studio work, and a member of the UB2016 Global Innovation Challenge's winning team.
