Bronwyn Keenan has been involved in the arts for more than 25 years. After starting out at the front counter of Christie's East, she went on to open and manage her namesake gallery for a decade where she launched the careers of many now notable artists, among them Katherine Bernhardt, Carol Bove, Liz Deschenes, Mari Eastman, Brad Kahlhamer, Guy Overfelt, Enoc Perez, Brad Phillips and Eve Sussman. During the gallery years, Keenan consulted with and developed experiential marketing and events campaigns for adidas, Rockstar Games, Chanel, Edun, Dr. Martens and Greenpeace. In 2006, she went on to direct events and special projects at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, where she initiated and produced site-specific programs and collaborations with artists like Animal Collective and Tino Sehgal, MGMT and Maurizio Cattelan. From 2012 to 2018, she worked at The Metropolitan Museum of Art as the head of special events, where she created the look and feel of more than 600 events and projects annually, including the Met Gala. In tandem with her work in museums, Keenan has been active in progressive causes, including Downtown for Democracy, with the aim of putting the power of creative expression to work for democracy. In January 2019, Keenan joined the University at Buffalo to helm the strategic initiative, the Arts Collaboratory, fostering collaboration and experimentation across the arts disciplines at UB and in the Buffalo community.
